With the introduction of the all-new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, the Jeep brand adds another high performing model when it comes to capabilities. A three-row SUV option, the model will add a wide variety of options – including a Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. But what drive modes will be available to the model? At Bayside CDJR, we provide an overview for the drive mode features available.

The Five Different Drive Modes in the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

Found inside the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. This feature provides both on- and off-road settings to optimize your 4×4 system’s performance. With the system, there are five total terrain modes to choose from:

  • Auto: Used best for daily driving on paved roads. Your model will distribute torque between the wheels for optimal handling.
  • Rock: Designed with adventure in mind, this option is used to traverse rough terrain at low speed. The option will champion Hill Descent Control and provide the ideal situation for rocky crawls.
  • Snow: With slippery conditions, this option evenly distributes torque to provide balanced grip.
  • Mud/Sand: To prevent wheel slippage, this feature works to prevent the vehicle from getting stuck in sandy environments and other soft terrain.

What Other Performance Features Are in the All-New Model?

Beyond the Selec-Terrain System, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L will have other features equipped. As a whole, three total 4×4 Quadra-Tec systems will be available to choose from. As mentioned previously, a Hill-Descent Control feature will also be there should you be driving in specific downhill circumstances. Naturally, your adventures may run into water fording moments. Each model offers at least 8.3 inches of ground clearance but will have custom lift heights with the Quadra-Lift System.
