Summer’s here in full swing and with the heat comes a list of problems for you and your vehicle. You don’t want to be stranded with a non-functioning car in the middle of a hot summer day – no one does! Thankfully, it can be easy to avoid common issues with proper maintenance. Keep Your Engine Cool

This is a pretty obvious one, but you want your engine to be as cool as possible as the heat rises. Engines that overheat are engines that don’t work properly, and if they get too hot, they just turn off automatically to save themselves damage. You want to make sure that your coolant is properly filled, that its system is properly maintained (belts, hoses, connectors, etc), and that you have the specified coolant type for the model.

Keep Tires Inflated Properly

Your tires are extremely important parts of your vehicle, as they are the point of contact with the road. They take a beating year-round, but the summer is especially hard on them. They’re expanded, overheated, and forced to pound the road for sometimes hours. Proper inflating is important to prevent them from blowing out and leaving you stranded.

Maintain Comfortable Driving Environments

This is specifically addressing your air conditioning system, but you can also consider how it applies to your air quality and filters. A comfortable drive can reduce drive strain, so we encourage you to make sure your AC and your air filters are in top condition as soon as possible. There’s nothing worse than overheating inside a vehicle in the summer sun.
